So what's the catch?
There isn't one. Chukta started because a group of friends got tired of daily limits and ads in the middle of a trip.
It runs on small, efficient servers that cost next to nothing, so it doesn't need your money or your data. No ads, no trackers, no premium plan. Your expenses are visible only to the people you share them with.

Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Every feature, for everyone, with no ads and no limits on how many expenses you add.
Does Chukta touch my bank account?
Never. Payments happen in your own UPI app. Chukta only fills in the amount and records it once you say it went through.
My friends aren't on Chukta. Can I still split with them?
Yes. Add them by name. When they sign in with the same email, their balance is already there.
Is the iPhone version a real app?
It's a web app that you install from Safari. It gets its own icon, opens full screen, works offline and stays in sync with Android.
Who can see my expenses?
Only the people in that group, or the friend you split with. The server checks this on every request.
What if two of us edit the same expense?
Chukta never silently overwrites. If someone changed it first, you see their version and decide.
